and the count down begins...

Twas the night before christmas when all through the house...

people are still awake. COME ON! does no one want santa to arrive?!

I remember when christmas was so exciting I almost couldnt sleep. Its too funny to look at Katie and know thats exactly what I looked like ten years ago. and now, I stay up for hours putting things around the christmas tree after everyone else is asleep-wrapping gifts and making sure that everything looks magical for the next morning when the kids drag me out of bed to see what santa has brought them while they were sleeping...

:) thats my favorite part.

Other than that, I usually find Christmas extremely annoying. haha. But this years different for some reason. I think that in years past I just thought of it as another holiday for people to go out and spend money they dont have on things other people wont appriciate, not to mention the decorations take HOURS to put up and only stay there for a couple days...and then you have to clean up again! oh and then theres always those psycho shoppers, and the tacky yard ornaments...ahh its insane! but this year Ive tried to be more focused on being thankful for the place I am in right now, and the people I have in my life. Because Im very lucky. :)

merry christmas.

I'm gonna sit on the dock of the bay watchin the tide roll away. Sittin on the dock of the bay...wastin time.

Not being able to drive becomes so much more annoying on the weekends. tonight Im supposed to go with a bunch of people to the free expressions tunnel at NC state (crossin off that bucket list, baby!), and paint there, then go look at christmas lights...get cookout...

sounds fantastic. am i correct? so whats the problem, alyssa? oh. you cant drive, so you have to rely on other people to get you there? that sucks.

so basically, I have to find a date that wont mind carting me around all of downtown raleigh. oh, and that can stand me for more than just an hour. haha. sooo...naturally I called courtney. (shes my go to, do anything, girl).

as fate would have it, shes working tonight. coldstone is such a yummy plan screwer-uper. ;)

I dont believe anyone really understands the neccesity of my spraypainting the free expressions tunnel. So...I called Dalton and left a message. Maybe I can trick him into doing it. Too bad hes at a tournament until 4!! Gaaaah. I never can seem to get my stuff straight. :)

Enough about me being unorganized!

I cleaned/organized the attic this morning, which was a trial in itself. 1)because i cant stand up straight in there 2)because if i dont watch where i step i fall through the ceiling and 3)because there was so much stuff up there!!! Luckily I started this project earlier this week, so it only took me about another hour. mission accomplished. I felt a lot better about my existance after working on that and completeing it.

Im listening to pandora.com right now. I love that website. for those of you who havent used it, you can type in a song, and it will automatically create a radio station of sorts, full of similar music. its a great way of finding new artists you never knew you would be in love with. Right now Im listening to The Gabe Dixon Band. An interesting combination of piano and a voice somewhat similar to John Mayer...but somehow its his own at the same time. Very nice. :) I highly recommend it.

Speaking of music....Im looking for new songs to learn on my acoustic. Dosnt matter if they are hiphop, country, screamo, or whatever, Im just looking for a good song. So if anyone has any, I'll be taking requests/suggestions. :) Besides, I like rearranging music. (aka. kanye west specifically. hate the man, love the music. although it goes against my better judgement to participate in anything that horrible man does...grrr.) And also, another goal of mine is to

  • record my music.

so once I actually get to that, I'll post it. :) Im sure theres some way of doing it on blogs.

well I guess I should go get semi put together in case I do end up doing something tonight. hope everyones having a great weekend.

P.S. To anyone who might be reading this...please keep the Alfonsos in your prayers, especially sweet baby Ella. They are some of the best people I have ever met, and I just love them. <3

Bucketlist.

“If ever there is tomorrow when we're not together.. there is something you must always remember. you are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think. but the most important thing is, even if we're apart.. i'll always be with you.” ~pooh[:

Last night was board night. Which I passed with a 98! I cant help but wonder what the two points off were for. I probably went over time two minutes. :/ oh well. I was happy with my presentation. One of my judges told me I should contemplate teaching. I wonder if I would make a good teacher..? We may never know... in other news...Tyler came home today! I cant wait to see him. Its been forever and a day, so that super exciting. I wish I could physically act how I feel inside, but after this week Im just so exhausted that I cant bring myself to do much of anything besides sit and write blogs. haha.

Do you ever feel just insanely inspired by everything you see around you? Life is so amazing. I wish I could more fully appriciate that. :) So...this post is basically to make a bucketlist. Things I really want to do. Im sure I wont remember all of them, so I'll just keep adding as I go along.

  • travel. i want to go places! italy, japan, ireland, england, egypt! I want to experience as much as I can.
  • skydiving is a must on a bucket list.
  • save a life.
  • get married.
  • write my own music.
  • read all of the shakespeare I can get a hold of.
  • serve our armed forces in some way (probably not IN the armed forces...but help out somehow.
  • adopt.
  • go to college and graduate.
  • find a career I will love.
  • give blood. (scary...I cant take needles.)
  • own a black and white great dane named elvis. (yes. this is a goal of mine.)
  • ...its wierd to think about, but I do actually want kids. :) haha.
  • spraypaint in the free expressions tunnel at NC State.
  • learn to style hair. (im working on it now!)
  • go hunting.
  • volunteer in a 3rd world country.
  • learn how to speak spanish fluently.
  • use a toilet at wake med.

there are a few of the less ridiculous ones. :)

anyways, thats about all I feel like posting right now. Hopefully I'll remember to do this more often. Especially now that senior project is over! WOOHOO. stress relief? Yes. majorly. Now I just have to worry about getting into college. yikes.

have a good night. :)

Wasting time...

So Im supposed to be working on my senior project right now. Im in first block, English, and I really dont feel like writing for grad project stuff...so I decided it was a good time to update. Guess what WJHS students? blogger.com is currently UNBLOCKED from the internet! Excitement! Joy! Happiness! Blogging!
SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.

The past couple days have been interesting. :D

Yesterday I learned that Katie sits next to a little girl on the bus who calls herself "Saint Lollie". I cant decide if this is funny or disturbing. Perhaps the disturbing part is that all the other kids refer to her using her saint name?

Oh heres another funny little story. Bridget has started noticing racial differences in people. (ex:"Look, hes black!") OH yeah. Its pretty dang funny. We've been trying to explain to her why we dont shout things like "LOOK A BLACK PERSON!". Its pretty cute because shes honestly is just excited about it. :) We were at the soccer field for one of Emilys games, when a nice older man gave Bridget a caprisun. She was really excited and exclaimed "Wow! I cant believe your black!". He, laughing, walked away as I looked at her, utterly horrified. I explained to her that we dont shout things like that, so that people doing think that we're trying to be mean...I dont think she really understood. Yesterday when my mother came to drop off my cap and gown order to the school (*YAY*), they pulled up to the little shack for the security stuff in the front of the school. The same man sits there every day, and after four years of going to west, he knows us by car. As soon as they pulled forward, Bridget says from the back seat "Hes so nice. I like him. And hes black." Then, covering her mouth, her eyes growing wide she apologised saying: "Oh! Sorry. Thats a bad word." Not quite what we're trying to get her to understand...but at least shes trying...? Children say the derndest things. :]

Today Im doing sportsmed for our wrestling team. I really hope I dont have to deal with any cauliflower ear or broken facial bones. But whatev. I love sports med. so its alright. Apparently today is Dalton and Orans first match, which Im missing because the losers forgot to tell me ahead of time. :/ uuuunnnncoooool! I guess I'll just have to stop scheduleing stuff for wednesday nights. Anyways, I've never really been to a wrestling match before, so this should be a very interesting experience. :) I hear it can get pretty uncomfortable. Haaaaaaaa!

Well its about time for us to switch classes. So Im gonna wrap this up. Hope everyones having a fan-freakin-tastic day!

lyssss.

First Post

On a mere whim I decided to create one of these, we'll see if I actually keep it up. It sounded like a cute idea, good way to keep a journal without having to deal with the actual book part of it all, (typing is just so much more efficient.) so it might actually happen. I watched That Thing You Do somewhat recently, so that was the inspiration behind my blog title and url. Points for creativity? Maybe not. But its a great movie. However, I'm going to go try to figure out the rest of this blogging business. Wish me luck! :]
